The U.S. 10K Classic is always held on Labor Day (the first Monday in September). The 2008 race will be held on Monday, September 1, 2008.
When is the Family Festival?
The Family Festival is held on the Saturday and Sunday prior to race day. This year’s festival is August 30-31, 2008 at the Galleria Gardens on Cobb Parkway across from the Renaissance Waverly Hotel.
How do I know if I’m registered?
If you register online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. If you submit your entry via mail, your cancelled check is your confirmation.
When is the last day to register by mail?
Early registration must be postmarked by August 11th. Participants requesting their packet be mailed must register by August 11, 2008 (requires additional $4 mailing fee).
When is the last day to register online?
Online registration closes at midnight August 24, 2008.
Can I register on race day?
No, due to the number of participants in the race, there is no race day registration.
Can I pick up my number on race day?
Due to the size of the race, numbers cannot be picked up on race day. Race numbers can be picked up before race day at the Family Festival or can be mailed ($4 mailing fee) if entry form received by August 11th, 2008
How can I register in person if I miss advance registration?
Register in person Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31 at the Family Festival. The festival is held at the Galleria Gardens, located in the office complex behind Galleria Mall (across from Cumberland Mall on Cobb Parkway, just inside I-285, northwest of Atlanta). Festival hours are 10am - 6pm on Saturday and 10am - 5pm on Sunday.
What time do the events start?
Start times for each event is as follows:
7:15 a.m. 100K Pro Cycling
7:20 a.m. 10K Women's Cycling Sprint
7:25 a.m. 10K Inline Skate
7:30 a.m. 10K Wheelchair
7:45 a.m. 10 Run and Walk
What time should I arrive on race day?
Participants should plan to arrive at the start area by 6:45 a.m. due to the size of the event and area road closures.
Where do I park at the start line?
More than 15,000 parking spaces will be available in the Cumberland Mall parking lot. All participants should plan to park at the start and ride the free shuttle buses back after the race. No shuttle buses will run before the race.
Do you allow baby joggers and non-competitive wheelchairs?
Yes. For safety reasons, operators and occupants of strollers, baby joggers and non-comopetitive wheelchairs must line up behind the runners. Parents must sign a release form for all stroller and baby jogger occupants. Non-competitive wheelchair occupants must also sign a release form (parent/guardian signature for those under 18).
How do I get back to my car from the finish line?
Free shuttle bus service will be provided by CCT. Buses will run from the finish line to the start line beginning at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. There is no parking for race participants or spectators within the White Water/American Adventures Theme Park before the race.
When and where is the Kid's Classic Race?
The Kid's Classic will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008, 11 a.m. at the Family Festival Two races: .5K (ages 6 & under) and 1K (ages 7-11).
Can I run with my child in the Kid's Classic?
Yes, parents are welcome to walk or run with their kids. Parents escorting their child do not have to pay an entry fee but must sign a release form.
I lost my race packet. How do I get a replacement?
If you lose your runner number, race packet or timing chip, another can be issued to you at the Family Festival on Saturday or Sunday, August 30-31, 2008. Visit the registration tent for assistance. Due to the size of this event, duplicate or replacement packets/numbers/chips cannot be issued by mail.
What is the policy on refunds for registration fees?
No refunds or returns are issued for registration fees.
Can I pick up a friend's packet at the Family Festival?
Yes, you may pick up a packet for someone else at the Family Festival as long as you have written permission and a photocopied picture ID.
What all do I get for my registration fee?
All registered participants receive:

Are there water stations along the course?
Yes, Aquafina water stations are at miles 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Will the race be canceled if the weather is bad?
The U.S. 10K Classic will be held in all kinds of weather, so please dress accordingly. Average temperative at the start is 63 degrees.
How do I volunteer for the race?
To volunteer, click on the volunteer section in the navigation bar and download a form or click on the appropriate line to volunteer online.
Where do I get my t-shirt and hat?
T-shirts and hats are awarded to FINISHERS at the Finish Line Celebration on race day. T-shirts will be distributed at designated tents by shirt size. Only one shirt per person, per race number. Timed participants must turn in their timing chip in order to received the shirt and hat. Participants must present their race number in order to receive a shirt and hat.
Can I get another timing chip on race day if I forget mine at home?
No, there will be no chip exchanges or replacements made on race morning.
Can I keep my timing chip?
No, all timing chips must be returned at the finish line in order to receive a t-shirt and hat. $30 will be charged for all chips not returned.
How do ensure that I have the correct timing chip?
Make sure the number on the LABEL of your bib (not the bib number) matches the number on your chip. You can also verify a match at the ChampionChip scanner at the Family Festival. Chips cannot be replaced or exchanged on race day.
What if I decide not to run on race day and I had my chip mailed?
If you decide not to run on race day, simply enclose the chip in the envelope provided with your packet and drop it in the mail (make sure the envelope is marked HAND CANCEL). If you prefer to return it personally, you can do so at the U.S. 10K Classic office: 6400 Highlands Parkway, Suite D, Smyrna, GA 30082.
Where can I check my results?
Race results will be available online September 5, 2008, at the U.S. 10K Classic website and on active.com. Results will also be published for timed finishers in the September 6th issue of The Marietta Daily Journal.
When will results postcards be mailed?
Results postcards will be mailed in December 2008 to all timed finishers.
Why didn't I receive a results postcard?
There are several reasons this may happen: the address entered may be incorrect or incomplete (such as a missing apartment number); the entry form was illegible or damaged; the zip code was incorrect; your chip misread at the start or finish line, causing an error in your time. We try very hard to get everything right, but sometimes, despite the best efforts, our data is entered incorrectly and this could be the case.
How and when do I get my race poster?
Posters will be available at the t-shirt tents in the finish line area and at the Family Festival (autograph tent).
Are results announced immediately after the race?
Top overall finishers for each division will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on the entertainment stage. Announcements will begin after 9:30 a.m.
Where do race proceeds go?
The U.S. 10K Classic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All proceeds from the race and Family Festival are donated to children's charitable organizations. Click on the beneficiaries link to find out more about how this year's funds will be distributed.
